Critical Role Campaign 4 Unveils the Fighters Table

Ever since the premiere of Campaign 4, recently appointed game master Brennan Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of personalities, and a gripping narrative including divine entities, evil spirits, and dark forces growing in influence within the city.

Warning: Revealing details for the third episode of this adventure are included.

The Soldiers Table Unveiled

The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and introduced the first table of adventurers who will split off from the primary party to undertake their own adventure, apart from the other two tables.

This warrior group includes the determined fighter (played by Travis Willingham), Thimble (Laura Bailey), the fierce warrior (the cast member), Wicander (Sam), and Kattigan (Robbie Daymond).

Why Split the Party?

Given an extensive roster, it was clear from the outset that having everyone at one table would be unworkable.

Hence, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the individual narratives before dividing into three smaller tables: Fighters, Schemers, and Seekers.

What Defines the Warrior Group

As described by the DM, the warrior group is for adventurers who enjoy a classically intense combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are scarce.

Initially, figures such as the squeamish cleric Wicander Halovar might seem mismatched, but the developments of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are best suited for the warrior group.

Reasons to Leave

To begin with, the team knows exactly where to go next after a intense first encounter with the enemy group.

A former ally of Thjazi Fang—whose passing kicked off the narrative’s action—exploited the foes for his personal gain, breaking into Thjazi’s hideout, striking the character, and swiping all the enchanted items to dispose of.

Casimir then paid off his obligations and escaped to a secure base in the remote area, north of the city, with Cyd hot on his heels.

Personal Motivations

Moreover, each adventurer has a personal reason to leave the city the urban setting:

  • Thimble, as the close ally and best friend, seeks vengeance.
  • Kattigan is familiar with the region and cautions that it is a hostile environment.
  • Tyranny and The cleric, having resisted his relatives’ demands to eliminate the target and instead rescued him, have no safe haven.
  • Yet, their reputation as key figures in the influential clan could assist the party enter areas they usually can’t.
  • Additionally, Teor swore a life debt to The savior for his deliverance and will now go with him wherever.

Wanted and Hunted

Finally, all of them are wanted by the powers that control Dol-Makjar for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:

  • The agile adventurer and The character are recognized lawbreakers.
  • Tyranny and The healer defied the powerful family and the legion of demons they are aligned with.
  • The target is marked for death by the family.

This results in them no alternative but to travel to Timmony in pursuit of the antagonist.

Future Episodes

From the latest episode’s post-show segment, we learn that the Soldiers table won’t be around in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight players to round up the Explorers and Strategists tables.

Fans can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s final introductory chapter, released on October 24.
